Quinquennial Review Team Visits AICRP on Poultry Breeding

The Quinquennial Review Team (QRT) of ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad visited the AICRP on Poultry Breeding of ICAR Research Complex for NEH, Umiam (Barapani) Centre on 30th and 31st January, 2024. The team consisted by Dr. KML Pathak (Chairman), Former DDG (AS), ICAR and Former VC, Dr C.S. Prasad (Member), Former Director, ICAR-NIANP, Former ADG (AN&P), ICAR and former VC and Dr U. Rajkumar, Head, ICAR-DPR and Member Secretary. During the interactive meeting, Dr. V.K. Mishra, Director of the institute welcomed the team and presented an overview of the project and highlighted the importance of poultry in the livelihood of the tribal farmers of the state. Dr Sourabh Deori, PI of the project presented the progress of the centre. The QRT team appreciated the achievements of the centre and given some suggestions for further improvement of the centre. Dr. S. Ghatak, Head, DAFS proposed the vote of thanks. The meeting was attended by all the scientific and technical staff of the Division of Animal and Fisheries Sciences. Following the meeting, the team visited the poultry farm and interacted with some of the poultry farmers. In farm, a total of 400 vanaraja chicks were distributed among 20 tribal farmers along with poultry feed and some vitamin supplements. On 31st January, the team visited the Umden Arka village in the Ri Bhoi district and followed up the performance of the distributed birds under field condition.
